My 10-year-old daughter and I have been spending a lot of time together in the kitchen lately. This Chocolate Crinkle Cake Mix Cookies recipe takes just 5 simple ingredients:

a box of Devil's Food cake mix
canola or vegetable oil
eggs
vanilla extract, and
some powdered sugar, for rolling the cookies

To whip up a batch, simply stir together the dry cake mix, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl until the mixture comes together to form a dough.

The ingredients come together really easily, so you don't even need to use an electric mixer. Mixing by hand works just fine.

Cover and refrigerate for 20 minutes to make dough easier to work with for rolling.

Once the dough has chilled a bit, use your hands to roll the dough into 1-inch balls.

Place the powdered sugar in a small bowl and roll each dough ball in powdered sugar, coating the cookie dough ball completely.

Truly, the more fully coated the dough is with powdered sugar, the prettier the crinkle result will be on the baked cookies.

Place the sugar-covered dough balls on a cookie sheet about 2 inches apart so they have some room to spread as they bake.

Bake the cookies up for about 10 minutes, and then cool them on the pan for a minute before removing them to a rack to cool completely.

Use your hands to roll dough into 1-inch balls. Place powdered sugar in a small bowl and roll each dough ball in powdered sugar, coating it completely.
Place sugar-covered dough balls on an ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake at 350℉ for 9-11 minutes or until set.
Cool on pan for 1 minute; remove to a cooling rack and cool completely.
Store tightly covered in an airtight container.
