What do women wear on Thanksgiving?
What to wear on Thanksgiving depends on what you’ll be doing. It’s a great time to be festive and also comfortable. For a relaxed get-together, wear jeans or leggings and a sweater. Choose leather pants, a sweater, heels, or ankle boots for an elevated casual gathering. Or a comfortable dress or skirt and sweater and boots.

1. A cream turtleneck, black cords, and black ankle boots
This outfit looks simple, but the little touches elevate it and give it a chic and luxe look. The turtleneck sweater from J.Crew has a scalloped neck that makes this sweater really special. Black cords are not just super comfy. They also have that light sheen that gives them visual interest. A black belt with a gold buckle dresses up the look. You can totally wear a statement necklace over your turtleneck. This one is gold and ties into the gold on the belt. Pairing pointy-toe ankle boots with a slight heel and ankle-length flared cords gives a fancier feel. Wear this to dinner with family or friends when the dress code is elevated casual.

2. A brown leather jacket, gray turtleneck, black cords, and black ankle boots
If you have a brown leather jacket in your closet, brown leather screams fall. Here, I’m pairing mine with a gray turtleneck and black cords. I love pairing gray and brown together. It’s a color combination I discovered watching Joanna Gaines design kitchens. It creates a luxe vibe paired with soft and simple corduroy pants. If you prefer jeans over cords, wear your black jeans instead.

Gem tones are perfect for creating a festive feel around the holidays. Wearing this blouse with black cords gives texture. And black pointy-toe Mary Janes gives a modern touch to the look. Wear them with sheer socks if you’re worried about your toes getting cold.

5. A rust-striped pullover sweater, flare jeans, and boots
If your dress code is casual, but you want a more elevated look, long jeans like flare jeans are the best jeans to wear. They’re a bit dressier than cropped jeans. Then, adding brown boots with a heel elevates the look even more. This look is casual with a lift. The sweater is a few years old, but I love how the color combination is perfect for fall.

6. A pumpkin cardigan sweater, gray turtleneck, flare jeans, and boots
This is another sweater that I’ve had in my closet for a few years, but the boyfriend cardigan shape and the pumpkin color are so classic for fall that I won’t get rid of it. To keep the look fresh, I’m pairing it with a gray turtleneck rather than a white one. And wearing of-the-moment flare jeans with a brown pair of tall heeled boots.

7. A black sweater dress with brown tall boots
This black cozy sweater dress is super forgiving in the middle, making it perfect for going overboard on the mashed potatoes and stuffing. Brown leather boots and a bag bring all the fall vibes, striking a rich contrast with the black dress.

10. A brown sweater, kick crop jeans, and Chelsea boots
Cropped jeans are super casual when the dress code is relaxed, and touch football and jumping in piles of leaves is on the agenda. A brown oversized sweater not only screams cozy fall, but the brown color is super on-trend. Flat burgundy brown Chelsea boots keep the look casual and comfy.

11. A chunky turtleneck sweatshirt, jeans, and ankle boots
Here’s another super laidback outfit for a day of watching football with family. Every year, J.Crew Factory offers these turtleneck sweatshirts that are super comfortable and warm but more elevated than your average sweatshirt. This one is a navy herringbone pattern. I also have one with a light gray pattern. Look for them in light and dark colors. I’m wearing ankle boots here, but you could also wear Birkenstock clogs for shoes that feel like slippers.

12. Leather pants with a chunky turtleneck sweater
If you have leather pants hanging in your closet and have been waiting for an occasion that feels special enough to wear them, Thanksgiving is the perfect time to pull them out. You’ll be at the height of fall fashion. My secret with these pants is that they’re actually coated jeans that look like leather. They’re super comfortable, soft, and easy to wear. Wear them to a Friendsgiving for a current and fresh look. Just pair them with a chunky sweater. Give it a front-tuck, and add a belt to define your waistline. I’m wearing black Mary Janes here, but if you’re worried about cold toes, wear a pair of ankle boots.

16. A black trench coat, black blouse, black plaid pants, and ankle wrap pumps
This all-black look is anything but boring. The plaid adds texture to the look. The tie-neck blouse is better than a basic blouse. These ankle wrap pumps are my favorite heels. They have a wider heel and some of my roomiest pointy toes.

23. A duster cardigan, crewneck tee, sweatpants, and sneakers
I love combining a long cardigan with sweatpants and sneakers for an interesting juxtaposition. Here, I wear it with short sleeves, but on colder days, I wear a long-sleeve tee. Put on black or white sneakers or whatever color you have in your closet.
