With the holidays approaching, I’m already thinking about all the delicious food that will be filling my kitchen. I’m a side dish lover. Who cares about the turkey at Thanksgiving when there’s much more interesting flavors in other dishes?

If you ask my husband what my favorite Thanksgiving side dish is (and that always has to be made no matter what) he’ll answer: green bean casserole. It’s a go-to for many families and there are so many variations on the classic dish.

I hate to admit this, but it’s one of two main ways I enjoy green beans. Casserole and steam-in-the-bag. Hear me say this, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a food just one or two ways!

With our partnership with Pero Family Farms, a 5th generation farm and grower of fresh green beans, green beans have taken on new life in my home.

One of my go-tos is still to steam them in the bag (and Pero’s green beans come trimmed and ready to eat right out of the bag!) as an easy side dish for any meal. Plus my 1-year-old is obsessed with green beans!

However, working with Pero has led me to develop great new recipes like this Sausage and Veggie Sheet Pan Dinner, Mandarin Chicken Stir-Fry and Chicken Zoodle Soup.

There will still be green bean casserole this Thanksgiving, but I’m looking forward to continuing to try new delicious ways of preparing green beans throughout the holiday season.
